Blog 20 - The Halfway Point
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You're on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go...
Hello readers,
Special shoutout to the Singapore reader(s) who frequent my blog. Thanks for tuning in.
We are officially crossing the great divide into the latter half of my 40 Blogs in 40 Weeks challenge. The purpose of this self-imposed challenge was twofold:
- Develop my writing habit so it is a regular part of my weekly routines, so much so that I feel guilt for not having produced anything;
- And, a reflection on my last 40 years with a focus on popular culture, travel, adventures and Agatha.
Now, like flossing or picking up Agatha's poop, a nagging dreadĀ for missing the deadline creeps up. Maybe that is why a recurring dream I have is missing homework deadlines - a habit I had as a child as I recently rediscovered. My schedule has lagged as posts are coming up mid-week instead of on weekends. The important part is I just keep writing.
In 20 weeks, a lot has changed. I read old posts and see a mixture of self-reflections, listicles and reviews - a mosaic of themes and ideas. That is how my brain operates, where one idea falls in line with another to create a bridge between thought A with thought 87J-90PQx. I can get sidetracked, which is why my birthday plans are not finalized. If the world was not a hot mess, flying off to the Caribbean would be nice for some clarity and the slice of calm I continuously crave.
For now, my sights are set on what is to come:
- Survivor 50 premieres on February 25, which I prepare for with my own rewatches and try to forget the celebrity cameos.
- The snow WILL melt and the noises will come back. Staying indoors is by choice and has yielded some terrible film choices. I am looking forward to new spots to visit in and around the Niagara and southern Ontario areas. Phil gave me another mystery road trip with Guess Where Trips. Our next visit to my parents in Wiarton may take longer with the Detour Diaries book I purchased in the Fall. Plus, I still owe my nephew a trip to the zoo.
- My last class for the certificate in creative writing starts in April and I must (I MUST) complete my TICO license study and exam (finish what you start)
- Decide on our next big adventure for my 40th birthday. Having a trip planned makes the colder days bearable when you have something to look forward to.
- Keep looking for that job, unless the film house price goes down.
What are some activities, planned excursions or new beginnings you have coming up? What keeps you looking on the bright side of life while the world is covered in a wintery blanket? Comment below.
